Phineas Gage

Picture
In 1848, a railroad worker named, Phineas Gage, ended up with a terrible head injury.  Gage was a foreman who worked on the rails & with explosives.  This was no typical accident because, when Phineas sat up there was a hole through his skull.  Despite all his misfortune, Phineas made a ”complete recovery” & shared his story. He also traveled the world & persevered through his life.  The Phineas Gage case changed the ideas scientists had about the brain.

In my opinion, Phineas Gage was a lucky man.  After his accident he lived for about 11 years afterwards, he had a job, traveled the world, & and died with a loving family around him.  I completely agree with the author Phineas was indeed lucky, to me.

The Phineas Gage story didn’t interest me at all!  There were way too many big words, to much brain science & how people’s brains react to different t things.  To me it was very confusing & very hard to comprehend. A rating on this book for me would be a star.  There was some action but, not enough to keep you going. I would recommend this book to an older college student that wants to be a doctor & operate on the brain.
